My name is Jasmine Harpur. I was born and raised in Belize and am now married to Ben Harpur, a born and raised Newfoundlander. I am, as the Newfoundlanders call it, a ‘Come From Away’. I moved to Newfoundland in 2016 to pursue my Bachelors of Arts, majoring in political science. When moving to Newfoundland, I was determined that I would go back home and be involved in governing the country. Staying in Newfoundland was not an option I ever considered, much less any thoughts of full-time ministry. I certainly did not expect to fall in love with this province.
Ben and I are excited as we build our life here and have a desire to serve Christ and his people with all we have. We joined the Downtown Community Church team in September 2023 and are privileged to till the ground, plant seeds as we seek to faithfully serve Him. We ask you to join us in prayer that God will be glorified and that he will call a people to him, healing and redeeming people in our neighbourhood.

I was born and raised in Limpopo, South Africa. My family moved to Pretoria at a young age and that’s where I completed my high school and university diploma. I came to a saving faith in 1999 and immediately was introduced to local and global missions. My wife, Grace, and I had the privilege of serving with Operation Mobilization in South Africa and Canada for 8 years. We currently live in St. John's Newfoundland and we have 3 beautiful kids. I have been serving with Mile One Mission for almost two years now. My ministry at Calvary Baptist Church/Mile One Mission focuses on family ministries. During my spare time I enjoy playing soccer, watching rugby and skiing.
