Ministry Opportunities
Internship: 1-2 years
For those who are exploring a call to ministry.
This internship is designed to provide practical ministry experience alongside intentional discipleship and mentorship. During these 1-2 years, interns will serve in the life of the church, experience what it is to be a part of a church staff, and develop spiritually, personally, and ministerially, as we help them discern whether God has called them into the ministry.
Residency: 2 years
For those who need further practical training in the ministry.
-
Designed for men who are called and have a desire to start new churches where they are needed.
Church Planting Residents will go through 2 years of practical ministry practice and assessment. During the course of residency, residents will be challenged in their theology, pushed in their calling, and assessed as a church planter.
Each resident will be sent out either back home, to a partner church that is seeking a pastor, or to plant in Newfoundland with Mile One Mission.
-
Designed for men who are called and desire the role of pastor in a local church.
Elder residents will be assessed in their ability and fitness to pastor. They will be challenged to deepen their theology and pushed to be more like Jesus.
Men who complete this residency will then be sent out to help pastor a church either here in Newfoundland or abroad.
-
Designed for men and women who believe they are called to ministry, yet are not aiming to be church planters or elders. Gospel Workers receive theological training, ministry experience, and personal mentorship while serving alongside church planters in neighborhoods across NL. As they build relationships, disciple others, and engage their communities, they are equipped to faithfully serve the local church and discern God's calling for future ministry.
Those who complete this residency will be sent out to support local Mile One church plants or sent back home to faithfully serve their local church.
Church Planter Candidate: 5-10 Years
For those who are called and assessed to be a planter here in NL.
We believe planters are to be God called and church affirmed. Planter Candidates will have gone through our residency and have been affirmed a church planter by the congregation of Calvary. They will then enter our planting stage and begin to build a core team as they seek to plant in a local community.
We believe it takes a minimum of 5 years to see a church of 50 planted. Planter Candidates must have a desire to plant their roots deep in the hard ground that is Newfoundland & Labrador.
