Steve Bray
Lead Director
I was born in Newfoundland and grew up both in Harbour Grace and St. John's. I'm married to my childhood sweetheart Debbie, and we have been blessed with 3 children and an ever growing number of grandchildren.
I have served as the lead Elder of Calvary Baptist Church since 2015 and as the lead director for Mile One Mission since 2019. My heart is to see men and women trained for the work of the ministry and to see churches planted throughout my province.

I am from in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland, and have been working with Mile One Mission since it began. I also serve as an elder for Calvary Baptist.
My desire is to see the culture of Newfoundland and Labrador rejuvenated as people are transformed through saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Jennifer Winger
Women's Ministry Director
I am from Stouffville, Ontario, my husband Paul and I were married in 1997, and we moved to Newfoundland in 1998. We have been a part of the Calvary family since 1999 and I have been a part of Mile One since it began in 2019.
I am the mother of two adult children and I am passionate about the discipleship of the next generation to know and uphold the Word of God.
David Drover
Junior Director
I am from St. John’s and did my first summer internship with Calvary in 2017. I came on full time with Mile One in May 2019, and married Leanne in August of that same year. By God’s grace, I was voted in as an Elder of Calvary Baptist in 2024.
One thing I am passionate about is music ministry and equipping and sending new church plants.

Matthew Lahey

I was born in Digby, Nova Scotia, grew up in Pembroke, Ontario, and moved around a lot. My wife Ruth and I got married in January 2011. After living in Brisbane, Australia for 7 years, Ruth and I moved back to Newfoundland in 2018.
I desire to see a thriving, vibrant Gospel-centred community in Kilbride and the Goulds that would impact the Southern Shore for Christ's glory.

I am from Botwood—a small town in Central Newfoundland. I joined Mile One Mission in 2019 and have been the church planter for Downtown Community Church since 2021.

John Lewis
I am from Biloxi, Mississippi and moved to Newfoundland to work with Mile One Mission in March 2021.
My desire is to see a Bible preaching, Christ centered church established and grow in central Labrador.
I'm from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. I'm married to Celeste, and I've been serving with Mile One Mission since 2020.
My goal is to see our city and province transformed by Jesus Christ through the planting of gospel-preaching churches.

I am from Pretoria, South Africa. My wife Grace and I moved to Newfoundland in 2017, and I started serving with Mile One Mission in August 2023.
My desire is to see the next generation be discipled, love Jesus, and serve the nations through the local church.
Elliot Miles
Church Planting Resident
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, I moved to St. John’s, Newfoundland, in September 2024. I met my wife here, and was married in 2026. We are now pursuing church planting with Mile One Mission.
My passion is to grow as a faithful church planter, reach the next generation with the hope of the gospel, and, Lord willing, see a thriving church planted in Newfoundland & Labrador that impacts communities and points people to Christ for generations to come.

I am from Toledo, Ohio. My wife Sarai and I were married in 2015; our family moved to Newfoundland in November 2025.
We are eager to help establish healthy churches in communities that need the gospel.

I am from Memphis, Tennessee. I moved to Newfoundland to work with Mile One in December 2025.
I desire to see believers understand and live out the fellowship of the local church.

I was born and raised in Belize, Central America and moved to Newfoundland in 2016. In 2022, I married Ben, who grew up in Newfoundland. I have served at Mile One Mission since 2021 and we have served on the Downtown Community Church planting team since 2023.
We hope to see God's Word transform lives and restore families throughout Downtown St. John's and all of Newfoundland & Labrador.

I am from St. Philips, Newfoundland and started serving with Mile One in May of 2024.
Being from Newfoundland, one of the desires of my heart is to see churches planted in the small, remote communities that don’t have any gospel centered church and to see that church reaching the community with the hope of the gospel.

I am from St. John’s, Newfoundland, married my wife Dana in August 2021, and joined Mile One in November of 2021.
I’m passionate about showing our “come from away” brothers and sisters our beautiful home and our great need for people to know Christ.

I was born in Peru, fell in love with my husband Patrick and moved to Newfoundland in 2018. I have been part of the Calvary family since October 2022, and I have been serving with M1M since December 2023. I deeply love Jesus, and it is a privilege to walk alongside others as they grow in their faith.
My desire is that, through every conversation and every opportunity to serve, others would come to know the love, grace, and hope I have found in Christ.

I am from Atlantic Canada but have lived in Newfoundland for 30 years. I came on full-time with Mile One in 2024. Before beginning full time, I also served as the part-time custodian for Calvary Baptist.
My desire is for all of us to be good stewards of what God has given us.

Office Administrator
I am from Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland. In 2020, I began serving with Mile One Mission. My husband, Jonathan Troke, and I were married in 2006, and together we have a daughter, Elliana. It is a privilege to support the ministry of both Mile One and Calvary.
I am passionate about seeing the gospel proclaimed throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
