Preamble

Mile One Mission is an exciting new reality that is passionate about gospel renewal in Newfoundland and Labrador.  We believe that church planting is at the heart of gospel renewal.  As a strategic church planting hub, our vision is to provide financial and logistical support towards a long-term, consistent, and integral church planting method, allowing carefully chosen church planters to focus on the task of building Gospel-centered churches, while Mile One mission and its partners provide the resources for their task. Mile One Mission is seeking help from partners across Canada and around the world.

What We are

 Mile One Mission is a uniquely Newfoundland and Labrador church planting mission seeking gospel-renewal through the planting of gospel-centered churches.

For Newfoundland and Labrador

Sometimes, you have to take the road less travelled before the real journey begins.  Home to the most easterly and one of the oldest cities in North America, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador has a rich history and unique culture.  Mile One Mission seeks to plant and support culturally relevant churches in this province knowns for its rugged beauty, warm people, colourful stories and thousands of kilometres of coastline.  Mile One Mission is a uniquely Newfoundland and Labrador church planting mission.

Gospel-Centrality

We are passionate about gospel-centrality and our mission is rooted in gospel convictions.  The gospel is the good news of what God has graciously accomplished for sinners through the sinless life, sacrificial death, and bodily resurrection of his Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.  By His grace, God calls us into relationship with Him and each other.  A gospel-driven ministry is evidenced by a complete reliance upon God’s grace and promises with a view to displaying the grace of God in all things.  The gospel is the means by which people are saved but also the truth and power by which people are sanctified.  God’s salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone, and in Christ alone and as such, no ordinance, ritual, work, or any other activity on the part of man is required in order to be saved.

Local Church

We will be a network of church-planting churches. The local church stands as the primary means by which God’s kingdom is established on earth.  We are called to make Christ known through the gospel and God’s plan from the beginning included the planting and establishing of local churches. As such, Mile One Mission believes that God’s mission is fulfilled through the planting of churches that plant other churches.

Theological Clarity

Mile One Mission is committed to the divine inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture.  The Bible is not simply words about God, it is the word of God; the voice of God in print.  As such, God’s word is the highest authority over our lives and churches and the only infallible rule of faith and practice.

Empowering Presence of the Holy Spirit

We rely on the work of the Holy Spirit to raise up and empower church planters, to illuminate God’s word and transform the church.  The Spirit permanently indwells, graciously sanctifies, lovingly leads, and empowers all who are brought to faith in Christ so that they might live in obedience to the inerrant Scriptures.  The Holy Spirit empowers, through sovereignly distributed spiritual gifts, for the work of ministry and the building up of the body of Christ.
